“Donor How To Series” – Part 3: Annual GivingPosted 11.12.12
Just in time for the end of the year, let’s talk about Annual Gifts. If you would like to get your gift in by the end of the year for tax purposes, now is the time to do it. A non-profit organization’s Annual Fund is an organized effort to obtain gifts on a yearly basis to support general operations. Annual Gifts are different than gifts that go to specific programs such as a named scholarship fund. Annual Gifts are very important to non-profits because they help keep the lights on and fund the staff. Without general operating funding, non-profits can’t fulfill their mission.
Over the years, Central Scholarship has grown to help more students. This year alone, we processed over 4,000 student applications before arriving at our scholarship recipients. Increased programming leads to increased indirect costs such as technology and staffing. A gift investing in Central Scholarship helps us make a big difference in the lives of our students. Donors may make their gift online, by mail, in person, or over the phone. If you have any questions about giving to Central Scholarship, please contact our Development Director, Jessica-Schmidt-Bonifant, at 410-415-5558.
